NGV Kids On Tour returns to Bunjil Place for another summer of creative fun!

Drop-by for a free workshop and spend time exploring playful art and craft activities inspired by the NGV exhibition program.

Running daily in the Bunjil Place Foyer from Tuesday 13 - Thursday 15 January from 11.00 am - 2.00 pm

Tuesday 13 January – TAKE THE CAKE
Cakes are more than just sweet treats, they’re symbols of celebration, tradition and togetherness. From birthdays to cultural milestones, they mark life’s special moments.

In this activity, children are invited to draw their own celebration cake, using their imagination and creativity to capture memories of special occasions.

Wednesday 14 January – MAKE A PARTY HAT
We wear hats for many reasons. Hats can protect us from the sun, rain or cold weather.  They can also be part of a uniform, express style, or represent a special tradition or celebration. A party hat is usually cone-shaped and secured with an elastic string under your chin. It’s often worn at birthday parties or celebrations like New Year’s Eve.

In this activity, children and their families are invited to decorate a party hat with stickers and drawing materials.

Thursday 15 January - WHAT’S NEW
Learn about a suede purse from the NGV Collection that is shaped like a classic 1960s telephone. Back then, telephones were big, heavy, and connected to the wall – they weren’t something you could carry around!

For this activity, children are invited to have a conversation with an adult about how phones and everyday life have changed over the years. Together, they can share stories, compare the past and present, and draw pictures that show what they’ve learned from their conversation.
